Unit G Question #8

8. How do you find the y-intercept of a rational function? Does this need to be done in the original or simplified equation?
Remembering Y-intercept (x=0), in order to find the y-intercept of a rational function we have to substitute 0 for all the 'x' in the equation. But, we have to check for holes in the graph and plug the 0 into the simplified equation, if not then continue as stated above and plug in 0 for every 'x' in the equation. This should give you your Y-intercept.
